Look how full they are and how they hang; They are rich and are suited to a wide variety of fabric treatments ; They can be plush and heavy ..but should not be too heavy and rich because of the fullness needed; There is a 'full' gathering at the top too and this full gathering aids in the complete and full 'hang' that is unique to Austrian Blinds. Sometimes even though mid-weight fabrics may be the obvious choice, there are suggestions that light-weight fabrics are suited to such window dressings.
Light fabrics can be good for gathering and drape but Austrian Blinds are rich and scalloped and a suitable mid-weight fabric is perhaps best.
